Want Some Cheese With That Whine?

"In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, 'if only we had died by the Lord's hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out to this desert to starve this entire assembly to death' " (Ex. 16: 2 & 3).

All of us have been "hungry" but few of us experienced "hunger." Just being hungry is being "Esau hungry." You know that feeling. Maybe we've worked or played so long and hard that our bodies are tired and we want food and drink. Hunger is not knowing when and if our next meal is coming. The Israelites who had just crossed the Red Sea were somewhere in between. Now it was time to grumble. (KJV says murmur) So what do you think? Are the children of Israel complainers or whiners?

Is there a difference between complaining and whining? Let me make this observation. (you may disagree and that's OK) We may register a complaint when we think some kind of injustice has been done. The complaint ought to be made to one who has the ability to right that wrong. On the other hand, whining is more than likely an empty complaint presented to anyone who will listen. It is usually made to someone who might sympathize, but can make no difference. It is just our own little "pity party."

So what do you think now? Were the Israelites complaining or whining? It appears to me to be a whine. Moses and Aaron through the power of God had shown His power, but they were not the ones to which the complaints should be made. The people ought to have been complaining to God. Oh and by the way, I think there is a difference in complaining "to" and complaining "at."

I've got some more about this tomorrow. Just this last thought so that I will end on a positive note. I don't think God minds if we complain to Him for a solution to a problem. He just doesn't want us to be a bunch of whiners. Nobody likes a whiner!

Have a great day...Let your light shine for Him...more walk-less talk....Love mark Phil. 4:11
