A Note To The Complaint Department

"I cry aloud to the Lord; I lift my voice to the Lord for mercy. I pour out my complaint before him; When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me" (Ps. 142: 1-3).

Now David Knew how to complain! He does not whine or snivel like the Israelites did after miraculously crossing the Red Sea, but he does proffer a complaint. If I may, complaining is OK if it is done in the right way. If the complaint is made to the one who can help, and if it is "to" and not "at." The Israelites whined to God all the time, and He got mad! They complained AT him with blame and accusation for their plight.

The Psalmist shows us the right way. Complaining to God is pleading your case before Him in hope that He will help. I actually think it is approved. "Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me; the terrors of death assail me" (Ps. 55:1-3). Another plea offered to the complaint department...And a good one...Directed to God the only one who can help.

Because God had made a promise, He even answered the Israelites whines with manna and quail. The coolest part of this story is not the manna and quail, but the spiritual nourishment that they are to receive. The children of Israel are to be tested, (Ex.16:4) just as we will be. God knows something that it would be wise for us to consider. We are tested not to fail, but to develop a faith and trust in the Lord. To know that we must rely on Him. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Phil. 4:5). Maybe with a little more requesting and petitioning, but for sure....No Whining!

Have a great day. Make a difference...less talk..more walk....Love mark Phil. 4:11
