Spiritual Clothes

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievance you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues, put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity"(Col. 3:12-14).

Do you have any friends that are "clothes horses?" Are you familiar with the term? It has come to mean one who is obsessively or excessively interested in their clothing. You know the old terms...."dressed to kill"...."dressed to the nines" Well, as Christians, we ought to be this way! Not in a physical sense, but in a spiritual way. In Paul's letter to the Colossians, he lays out for us a splendid spiritual wardrobe. We ought to all be "spiritual clothes horses?"

Part of our wardrobe ought to be compassion (1 Pet. 3:8). It is the profound feeling we have for people in need and our willingness to help. We ought also to wear kindness. The kindness of the Good Samaritan of Luke 10, who was both sympathetic and kind. Part of our clothing should be humility. It is not our words that show our humility, but our actions.

Gentleness and patience ought to be an important part of our spiritual garments. Paul says to the Ephesians, "Be completely humble and gentle; bearing with one another in love" (4:2). Through this we will "keep the unity of peace." Another important article of clothing is forgiveness, which not only is a garment, but gives off a sweet aroma.

The final and most important garment is love. It binds the rest of our clothes "in perfect unity." If you need a reminder about this, read 1 Cor.13. May you go through your day in splendid attire...Splendid SPIRITUAL ATTIRE.

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good....Love mark Phil. 4:11
