OK - Who's In Charge?

"In putting everything under Him, God left nothing that is not subject to Him" ( Heb. 2:8)

I'll bet that all have you have been a situation where perhaps in frustration you asked, "Who's in charge here?" It is the reason that large unruly crowds can be so dangerous. No one is in charge. As a life-long school teacher, when I stepped into a classroom, the students knew I was in charge. Although they were the object of why I was there, I was the facilitator.....The one in charge. As we look through the book of Hebrews, it is necessary for the writer to let His audience, the Jewish Christians, know that Jesus had the power.

Part of the way that the Hebrew writer did this is a masterful touch. In verses 6-8, he quotes David from Psalms 8:4-6. David was an icon of the Jewish people and quoting him made the statement more powerful and forceful.

Here it is....The God you serve is the same one your forefathers served. But now He has given us His Son. Not only that, He has turned over the authority to Him. To understand how Jesus is made over all things necessitates an understanding of why. We need to remember that authority has always been important. In most cases, when people are in a position of authority over us, they have in some way earned that place. It is no different here."But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone" (2:9).

It is absolutely correct to say that Jesus died to forgive our sins. We can also conclude from 2:9 that Jesus died to be raised to His place of ultimate authority. There are other scriptures that tell us that Jesus died to fulfill His complete obedience to the Father. There is more though...."In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering" (2:10). Jesus suffered and died, "bringing many sons to glory." He came to earth to do anything He could to make us His brothers and sisters....To bring us into the family...That anything included suffering and dying...

Let there be NO DOUBT WHO IS IN CHARGE.....It is Jesus!!!!!

Have a wonderful day....Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
