We Are On God's Mind

"When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him (Psa.8: 3 & 4)?"

The mind is such an interesting thing. It is able to think of things and even imagine them. When we are doing something that is "mindless" (clamming for me) our minds tend to wander and think of all kinds of things. Maybe its a song that we can't get out of our heads, or an incident that happened many years ago..I am overwhelmed by the thought that we are on "God's mind."

"Give us this day our daily bread" tells us that God is aware of our physical needs. James puts it this way, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights" (1:17). When we pray, it is acceptable to talk about our physical needs because God is aware of them. He tells not to worry about food, drink or apparel..The animals of nature have a way to survive because of God's plan and He tells us that we are more valuable than them...After all, we are on God's mind..

More important than our physical needs are our spiritual ones. There's God again! Being created in His image, but prone to err, God promised us a Savior. He really came through with that one didn't He! Jesus came into the world to seek and save. To follow up on that, God has provided us with the Holy Spirit to guide our ways. In very close conjunction, the scriptures were given to us. Jeremiah told us (10:23), "I know, O Lord that a man's life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps." His word is indeed a "lamp unto our feet." It provides us with spiritual guidance. God takes care of our spiritual needs, after all, we are on His mind...

Finally, God is aware of our eternal needs. "In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I got there and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you with me that you may also be where I am" (Jn. 14: 2 & 3). As my knees creak and my reading glasses need to be strengthened, I think of a land without death or pain. On a spiritual level, we were made to live on an even higher plane than we do now. What a comfort to know that our Savior has gone to prepare a wonderful eternal place for us. And why should it come as a surprise to us? After all, we are on God's mind...

Have a wonderful Memorial Day. Give pause for those who have made a sacrifice for us...Go about doing good.. Love mark Phil. 4:11
