Enter The Unchangeable Jesus

"But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood (Heb. 7:24).

My mom, who passed away in 2005, lived to be 94 (maybe 95?) years of age. One of the things that amazed me when I talked with her were the changes she had seen in her long life. As a child living in Russia (maybe Poland) she spoke about going down to the river with a bucket to get water for their home. Imagine what cars and airplanes were like in 1910. Radio was in it's infancy and television wasn't even on the radar screen. (there wasn't any radar either)..So much change...

Pardon the oxymoron, but it is so obvious that we live in a world of constant change. From medicine to communication...farming to household tasks,,,Changes are inevitable. People, in our behavior and our needs have not changed. The same greed that Lot showed in Genesis 13 is within some of us today. That same need for preeminence characterized by Diotrephes in 3 John 9 is still with us. We still deal with the love of the "almighty dollar" that Paul wrote to Timothy about. (1 Tim.6;9 & 10) Although the temptations of the world are certainly refined, they are still about the same things. They still try to pull us back into the world. We still need guidance in our lives and continue to need a light for our path. We still suffer on many levels and are in need sympathy and encouragement. And lastly there is death and that need for a hope bigger than we can even imagine...Whew!!!! I have painted a mural with broad strokes of bleak colors haven't I...

Enter the UNCHANGEABLE JESUS! Jesus understands that the world is changing. He also understands that our needs have not. He does not change because..."I am the Alpha and the Omega, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty" (Rev 1:8). He is still the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. He is the one who showed us how to pray. (Luke 11) He is still the one who has all authority both in heaven and on earth. (Matt. 28:18) He is still the one who promised to be with us "always, to the very end of the age" (Matt. 28:20). Everything about Jesus is unchangeable. Though we live in an age that man's laws change, Jesus' are unalterable. His teachings about human relationships still work in today's world. His attitude toward sin is the same. He still doesn't like it! But his grace still covers a multitude of it..

Finally, our hope for eternal life has been promised to those who cling to the unchangeable Jesus. In a world that sometimes seems to be spinning out of control, what a comfort to know that we can hold fast to the same values that Jesus taught to us, and expect the same reward....

Have a wonderful day...Make a difference.. Love mark Phil. 4:11
