Playing The Blame Game

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed----not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence....continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling" (Phil. 2:12).

We've all played the blame game at one time or another in our lives haven't we...We probably did it a lot when we were children. Often it was hard to live up to a particular responsibility, so it was easier to pass the blame on to someone or something else rather than "man up." We can look at a litany of excuses as to why we didn't perform better..."didn't have time to prepare" "I was distracted" "The teacher didn't cover that stuff" "I was tricked"

Life sure works a lot better when we learn and adhere to its responsibilities. This comes into bolder relief when we are dealing with our relationship with the Lord. God has made promises to us. The promises do not come without us fulfilling our part of the bargain however. So.....Who do we blame regarding our relationship with God? On what does our salvation hinge? Who can we blame?

Not God! All of us can quote John 3:16. God gave us His Son. "This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come into the knowledge of truth" (1 Tim. 2:3). God has seen to it that we have the gospel. We know how powerful it is! "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power for salvation for everyone who believes" (Rom. 1:16). We just can't blame God!

We can't blame Christ! He came to earth and lived the perfect life. He was subject to all the same temptations that we face and emerged pristine. He invites all to come to Him..All of us who are "weary and burdened." He says, "Come to me and I will give you rest...for I am gentle and humble in heart...and you will find rest for your souls" (Matt. 1128-30). He died for our sins and wants none of us to perish, but for everyone to come to repentance. We just can't blame Christ!

We can't blame the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit has guided and inspired men to write the Bible. This Bible that is able to meet all of our needs. This Bible that has the words of invitation in it. "The Spirit and the Bride say Come! And let him who hears say Come! Whoever is thirsty, let him come; whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life" (Rev 22:17). We just can't blame the Holy Spirit!

The blame game ends with us. Everything has been provided for us to have a relationship with the Lord and reap the rewards. If we don't, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Every cliche that can be used points to us. The ball is truly in our court. No blame game! Just hit the ball....

Have a great day...Let your light shine for Him.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
