Attending A Bible Class - Too

"Anyone who listens to the Word, and does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it----he will be blessed in what he does" (Jas. 1:23-25).

Looking into the mirror can be a scary proposition for some of us...(just kidding)..Unless its one of those tricky carnival mirrors, the mirror gives us a look at reality. Whether we have shaved, put on make-up, or just given a cursory glance, what we see as we leave is what our adoring public will see also. We ought to study God's Word so that we will have a better opportunity to see ourselves as God sees us. What better place to gain this insight than in a Bible class. Studying the Word with those who also see us often can be a reality check in itself. The Bible is a true mirror of our souls.

As Christians we are "belief driven" people. We have not come to this point of our lives in a cavalier manner. I don't know about you, but I am proud to defend my faith. Just as Peter (1 Pet. 3:15) says to us to be able to "give an answer for the hope that lies within us," Jude gives us a little more sound advice. "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt that I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints" (3). We are the saints here! Is there a better place to "contend for" our shared faith than with those that we share it in a Bible class? It is also a wonderful opportunity to bring in a friend and share with him or her about this faith.

My last pitch for attending a Bible class comes from the mouth of Jesus Himself. "There is a judge for the one who rejects Me and does not accept My words; that very Word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day" (John 12:48) (You might want to read vs 49 too)...Very few of us would take a test without studying the material. The Word of God is the material upon which our "last test" is based. We would be foolish to take it without studying the "material." Since we are in this life together with others, what better place to study for the "finals" than with those we hope to share the final reward? It just makes good sense to study God's Word! It also makes good sense to avail ourselves of the opportunities presented to us to study it in a Bible class provided for us..If none is provided, start one of your own...

Have a great day...Make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4;11
