Being On The Lord's Mind

"What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him (Psa. 8:4)?

How many people are "on your mind" right now? I don't mean this in a casual way, but someone who is constantly a part of your daily thought processes. There are not too many are there? We are on God's mind all the time. Is he on ours? After praising the Lord for His majesty, the psalmist, awed by the immensity of God's handiwork and marveling that it is under man's control, says, "what is man that you are mindful of him?" In the same verse he alludes to Jesus. What an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as the Son of Man. The writer of the Book of Hebrews uses this set of passages in Psalm 8 to speak of Jesus' superiority over the angels.(2:6)

It is so reassuring to me to realize that I am on God's mind. James writes that "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights" (1:17) Jesus tells us in the 5th chapter of Matthew that He will supply our needs. As His children, we are on His mind. God gave us other people, so that we might have a social life. Yesterday at Northfield we had our monthly dinner after services. It was great to sit around with our brethren and eat and enjoy the fellowship that the Lord has provided for us. We are on the mind of God.

Even more important than our physical and social needs, God provides us with what we need spiritually. He promised to send us a Savior and He did. The gospel has been provided for us as a means to gaining an intimate relationship with God and Jesus. The scriptures have been given to us to show us the way and to guide us on our daily walk. We are on the mind of God.

Finally, our great God is aware of our eternal needs and again provides. Jesus explained (Jn. 14:2) that He has gone to prepare a place for us. Many times through God's Word, He tells of Jesus' return. "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am. You know the way to the place I am going" ( 2 & 3). We are always on God's mind, lets be sure that He is on ours....

Have a great beginning to your week....Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
