Wonderful - I Insist

"And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end" (Isa. 9: 6 & 7).

One of my favorite songs from the Broadway Show Wicked is entitled Wonderful. It is sung by the Wizard of Oz, (Joel Grey) and is a kind of self-description. Although he is not as wonderful as he describes himself, or as others think he is, the song is fun none-the-less. Today's verse is a one of those Messianic passages found in the Book of Isaiah that predicts the coming of Jesus. It describes the coming Jesus in more than glowing terms, using the word wonderful as it extols His virtues. Unalike the Wizard, Isaiah's words are completely true in their description.

Jesus has wonderful eyes as described in Rev. 2:18. They are like "blazing fire" and with them Jesus is able to search our hearts. "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous" (1 Pet. 3:12). The Book of Hebrews says that the Word of God is like a sharp sword that penetrates and judges our thoughts and attitudes. It goes on to say that "nothing in all creation is hidden from His sight" (4:13). Jesus also has wonderful ears with which to hear. Peter tells us that His ears are attentive to our prayers. (1 Pet. 3:12) Who else do we have with such ears that will listen to us any time of the day or night, no matter what our condition. Only the wonderful Jesus.

Our Christ has wonderful shoulders. He uses them to bear our burdens. The psalmist says, "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall" (55:22).Whatever our problem, His shoulders are always broad enough to bear them. Our Jesus has wonderful arms which He uses to give strength to His children. "My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him" (Psa. 89:21). He is indeed our strength when we are weak....He is the wonderful Jesus. Finally, our Jesus has wonderful hands. His hands are there to save us the way He reached down for Peter as he was sinking in to the waves. His hands reach down for us in the same way. They reach down and are willing to pull us out of the predicaments of life. Only because he is the wonderful Jesus..I will continue these thoughts tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day...Its a good day to RAK someone.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
