Caution!!! Spirit At Work

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline" (2 Tim. 1:7).

A lot has been said a written about the Holy Spirit that dwells within us. This we know...As Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost, he said, "Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2: 38). So we know how we get it....But just what is it, what does it do, and how do we know if we have it? Does some magical voice talk to us, guiding us down the right paths? Jesus said this; "You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit" (Jn. 3:8).

If I may be so bold to make this observation...The Holy Spirit that dwells within us does not simply work by itself. Other things must also dwell within us so that it can operate the way it is supposed to. We need to have an indwelling faith. How can the Spirit be expected to work if the faith that is in us is not a powerful and believing faith? In concert with our indwelling faith must be the indwelling Word. Its not just enough to read our Bibles every so often. The Word of God must actually dwell within us with our faith, helping the Spirit to do its thing. Finally, we must also have the indwelling God. Our faith, through the Word, should actually allow God to dwell in us. The Holy Spirit will hum along at its peak efficiency when these three are also dwelling within us.

So....Now the big question....How do we know if all of these things are going on in us? Jesus said, "Thus by their fruit you will recognize them" (Matt. 7:20). We know that the Holy Spirit is working within us when we exhibit the "fruit of the Spirit." Galatians 5:22 7 23) tells us what they are. The indwelling Spirit is not an emotional experience, but rather a life lived with the fruit of our Spirit on display at all times. If we do not show the patience, love, self-control or kindness that we should, our spirit needs to be strengthened.

It is a joy to share some thoughts with you....Have a great day....Let you light shine for Him.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
