Getting Your Ticket Validated

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matt. 7:21).

Jane and I from time to time will go to professional sports contests. Often we will go through some of the tickets agencies to get better and sometimes cheaper tickets. About a year or so ago, we got tickets for a basketball game in Philadelphia. We got to the Wachovia Center almost an hour before game time. Tickets in hand we entered. The ticket-taker uses a scanning device on the ticket to validate it. Much to our surprise and chagrin, the ticket, although authentic, could not be validated. Its a long story as to why this happened which I will not bore you with, but we were finally able to get into the game. (It was at the end of the first quarter)...

I have heard of people buying counterfeit tickets from a disreputable source, but we went through a went through known agency. My point? Embracing Jesus as our Savior is the beginning of a wonderful journey, but it is just the beginning. Being a Christian is much more than the decision we made to follow Him. I do not want to diminish at all this wonderful and personal dimension of Christianity. Coming under the grace of our Savior is an utterly fantastic experience and we have every right to feel the wonder of it. After all, our sins have been forgiven and we have been freed from the guilt of our past. But understand, this is just the receiving of the "ticket."

The life we live after becoming a Christian will determine if our tickets are validated or not. It is not always an easy path for us to travel. There are forces that would try to keep us from reaching our goal. But our Savior did not leave us stranded out on an island with no help available. With our obedience came the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide us. With our acceptance came a new group of people with the same goal in their hearts. "And let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds" (Heb. 10:24). Our Savior wants none to be lost and wants us all to "humble ourselves under God's almighty hand, that He may lift us in due time" (1 Pet. 5:6).

Finally, God has given us the book of instruction. Our Bibles are there to be the "lamp unto our path." The way we need to travel to reach our goal is pointed out vividly for us. The way to get our ticket validated is clear. Lets be sure to remember this...When we have obeyed the Gospel to obedience, our tickets are guaranteed to be authentic. Jesus will validate them after we have lived our lives according to His will..

Have a wonderful week...Today would be a great day for a RAK....Love mark Phil. 4:11
