More About Trust

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths" (Prov. 3: 5 & 6).

Yesterday I used the 23rd Psalm to show David, a man who placed his complete trust in the Lord. Because of this trust we got; "I shall not want," "I will fear no evil" and "I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." It is no wonder that this Psalm is so revered. Today we want to take the advice of the writer of Proverbs who says to trust the Lord with all our hearts. The Psalmist would say, "Commit your way to the Lord" (37:5).

We certainly live in a society, for better or worse, that has information at our finger tips...Literally!! Don't you remember painstakingly going through reference book after reference book to get the information you needed for a paper or report? Today we press a few keys and there it is. This ease with which we can find information can be a curse to us as surely as it is a blessing. How many people have you come in contact with that will swear that something is true for no other reason than that they read it on the internet? The Psalmist has an answer for this too. "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes" (118: 8 & 9).

The point here is that although we ought to trust those that we care for, only the Lord can direct in the true way that we must head. The prophet Jeremiah puts it this way; "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord" (17:5). It is so reassuring to know that there is a power greater than that of man who is willing to take us by the hand and show us the paths that we must follow. "And those who know your name will put their trust in you; For you, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you" (Psa. 9:10). It is like the child who allows his father to toss him into the air...Jesus is always there to catch us and keep us from falling...

Have a great day...Go out and make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4:11
