The Gospel - The Great Equalizer

"Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life which the Son of Man will give you. On Him God the Father has placed His seal of approval" (Jn. 6:27).

I started the thought yesterday that the Good News of Jesus is very cool. It was free, understandable and equalizing. Some more cool things about it today. "This is what he promised us---eternal life" (1 Jn. 2:25). The good news of Jesus is a sort of "compensating" gospel. The same reward is promised to all who believe. Even those who are at the bottom of the economic scale have the same promise.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of comfort who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received from God" (2 Cor. 1: 3 & 4). The Good News is comforting...God is a God of comfort who wants to help us through the rough patches of life. And to take this to another level, just as He has placed the spreading of the Word in us, He has given us the ability to comfort others as we have been comforted. For those who have a strong Christian family, we know that comfort..."I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phil. 4:13). The Good News is an encouraging and strengthening agent. Though Jesus was rich, He became poor for you and I, that through that poverty we might become rich. It is so encouraging to know that Jesus lived through many of the problems that I do and came though clean and unblemished. I have the perfect role model.

Finally, there's the power! The apostle Paul preached the Word in an uncompromising manner. He did it as he was inspired by the Holy Spirit. He did it with an unquenchable spirit. He did it, never having to be ashamed about the message. "I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes" (Rom. 1:16). We need never to be ashamed for what we are and what we believe because it is the same Good News that Paul talked about. It is the Gospel of power...The power of God for the salvation of man. It is for everyone...

Have a great day...Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
