More About The Holy Spirit

"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's spirit lives in you" (1 Cor. 3:16)?

What a great thing is said here about Christians. We are God's temple. What a unique thought..An even more wondrous thought is that the Spirit of God resides in that temple. I can hardly embellish on that. When we obey God unto salvation, He takes ownership. Jesus paid the price that this might happen and the result is that the Holy Spirit now resides in us, guiding us on the path we ought to follow. Paul encouraged Timothy with these words. "Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you" (2 Tim. 1:14). The treasure mentioned here is the Good News. It was so important that it needed to be guarded with the most powerful source possible....That power was then and is now the Holy Spirit.

So, what does the Holy Spirit actually do for us as Christians? I will just name a few. The Holy Spirit gives us strength that we would otherwise not have. As Christ dwells in our hearts, we are "strengthened with the power through our inner being" (Eph. 1:16). The Spirit enables us to overcome obstacles that will always find a way into our lives. My first car was a 1959 Volkswagon. It had a 10 gallon gasoline tank. The tenth gallon however was only reachable however, by kicking open a lever on the floor. We called it the reserve tank. The Spirit gives us that reserve when we don't think we can go any farther.

Finally, when we allow the Holy Spirit to work within us, we can bear some glorious fruit. I don't think that I can read Galatians 5:22 & 23 enough times. The more I read it, the more I am moved to bear this fruit and spread its results to others. In case you need a refresher, the fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law! It is good to allow the Spirit to dwell in us and do what it does best...

Have a great day...It would be a great day for a RAK... Love mark Phil. 4:11
