A Full Tank

"And to know this love that surpasses knowledge----that you may be filled to the measure of all fullness of God" (Eph. 3:19).

When I was a very young driver, a full tank of gasoline was always out of the question. Usually I scrounged up as much money as I could, (a dollar or two) to drive around for a while. In that gas was much cheaper in those days, two dollars would provide quite a few miles, but not like a full tank. Ahhhhhhhh....Imagine a full tank...All the places I could go, things I could do or stuff I could see. It is still a pleasant thought. Today's verse tells us about a full tank. "Filled to the measure of all fullness of God."

Jesus says this to us about filling our tanks. "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10). What are some of the things involved in having a full tank..."the measure of all fullness of God?" If we stay here in the third chapter of Ephesians we will find out what these things are. "I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being" (V 16). We can tap into all the power that we could possibly need through the strength given to us by God. Kind of like God's own legal dosage of HGH just for us. Then there's Jesus' power! "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith" (V 17a). Our faith in Jesus allows us to access His power. This is the high octane stuff that my old GTO needed to run the way it was supposed to....A full tank of Jesus' power!

"Rooted and grounded in love" (V 17b). Just as a plant receives its power to grow and produce fruit when it is planted in a fertile environment, we are to be rooted and grounded in love. Another ingredient in this full tank of fuel is love. God's love for us and ours for Him. Why doesn't everyone have this full tank of power? "That being rooted and grounded in love, may have power, together with the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" (V 18). Until one comprehends the love of Christ, there is no way to access it. It is right that we should give praise to our God for giving us this full tank so that we see and do all the things we were designed to.

Have a great day....Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
