As We Journey On

"To Canaan's land I'm on my way, Where the soul (of man) never dies;
My darkest night will turn to day, Where the soul (of man) never dies.
Dear friends, there'll be no sad farewells, there'll be no tear dimmed eyes,
Where all is peace and joy and love, And the soul of man never dies.

William M. Golden 1914

As Jane and I get ready to drive to Kansas, I could not help but think that we are all on a great journey in life. It is a wonderful trip and will include everything that one could possibly experience. We will all see the great sights and experience the thrills of the joys about us. We will also deal with car troubles along the way. A flat tire here and a broken fan belt there. We cannot let the highs get too high or the lows too low or the trip will just not be fun.

In Jesus, we have a guide that will take us on our trip. I will have my GPS engaged as we travel today, but in life, Jesus will tell us when and where to turn. My GPS confuses me once in a while and I don't believe the voice when it tells me which way to go. If I don't follow her directions, she says, "recalculating." When we don't follow the directions of our Lord, we get lost and He gently puts us back on the right way. He gives us a song to sing.

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid, think I've lost my way, still you're there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear as long as You are near,
Please be near me to the end"

Amy Grant 1984

The secret to having a successful and happy journey lies within the words of the song. We have nothing to fear as long as He is near. The big secret that we share as we make this trip though life is staying near to our Lord, using His Word as a lamp for our feet and a light for our path. Along our journey, many opportunities are opened to us. Opportunities to help others along their path. We have a chance to be the "Good Samaritan." A chance to go the extra mile, turn the other cheek, love our neighbors and even love our enemies. WOW!!!!! What a trip!! For me, the best part of almost every trip I have taken is getting back home.

"A rose is blooming there for me, and I will spend eternity.
A love-light beams across the foam, it shines to light the shores of home.
I'm on my way to that fair land, where there will be no parting hand."

With no computer capability on the farm, I will be out of touch for a while. You will be on my heart.. I hope that all of you have a joyous Christmas.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
