More Enrichment

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere" (Jas. 3:17).

Nobody likes a "wise guy." I've heard that somewhere and I think the wise guy being referred to is someone who thinks that they know it all or seek to demean people. We do however respect people of wisdom. We avail ourselves of those who are wise in the field of medicine when we are sick. If a legal problem confronts us, we go to a lawyer who is wise in the area of the law. We do not seek advice from a wise guy but rather from a person we perceive as having wisdom. James tells us; "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him" (1:5).

So....What's the difference between "wise guy" wisdom, and wisdom that comes from God? I believe that the answer lies in how we use that wisdom. Just look at today's verse. The wisdom that comes from God is pure. Look at the other traits that true wisdom engenders. It is; peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. All of these characteristics lead to the enrichment of the wise one and to those in whom he imparts the fruits of that wisdom. This is another way that we can allow our deeds to speak much louder than our words.

If a doctor or lawyer cannot utilize the wisdom of their profession to help people that need their services, they are useless. That wisdom, in order to enrich the lives of those they touch, must be reflected in how that wisdom is imparted. Just reflect for a moment on how enriching it would be if our churches were filled with truly wise people. People filled with the wisdom that they have prayed to God for. People who are wise and demonstrate that wisdom in their conduct on every level. Our churches would be such peaceable places to be. "Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness" (3:18). Enrichment at a wonderfully high level...

Have a great day...Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
