Plug It In

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint" (Isa. 40:31).

Don't you just love all of those electrical "whatits" that you have in your home. From the lamp to the computer I am in front of right now, we just love all of these devices. With the press of a button or the flipping of a switch, we have instant service.....If we're "plugged in" that is. All of these things work only by using a power source. And so here we are as Christians, also needing a source of power with which to function at the level we are meant to. I really like today's verse. The symbolism is just awesome! Soaring like eagles...running and not getting tired....WOW!!! How do we get access to this power source? Well, when all else fails, how about asking?

If we really have hope in the Lord, we will ask for that strength. Didn't Paul write in Eph. 3:16, "I pray that out of His glorious riches he may strengthen you with power?" I think that this is the same power and strength that the prophet Isaiah talks about in today's verse. It is the same power that Paul tells about in Ephesians 6:10. "Be strong in the Lord and His mighty power. Most of the "armor" that Paul precedes to write to us about entails being firmly attached to the Word. Truth (V 14)...The gospel (V 15)...Faith (V 16)...All of these are intrinsically attached to the Word, the "sword of the Spirit." (V 17) Only when we are firmly connected to the source of power can we hope to accomplish great things. Through these truths we are able to save ourselves and help others along the path.

As we plug into the power source through prayer and the Word, we strengthen the inner man. It is then that we are able allow God to work in us, to will and to act according to His purpose. A few final thoughts on the power next time...

Have a great day...Go about doing good...Love mark Phil. 4:11
