Playing By The Rules

"How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity" (Psa. 133:1).

How many of you watched and enjoyed the Winter Olympics this past week? I heard that the Gold medal game between the USA and Canada had the highest TV hockey ratings since the "Miracle on Ice" in 1980. It was particularly interesting to me that the teams were composed of players that play against each other all year in the NHL, but came together for the Olympics....For their country....It is cool what you will set aside for your country...Jesus wants all of us to "play together".......FOR HIM....

So just how is this unity developed. I know what the first Christians did! After the 3,000 believed and were baptized, it says; "They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to the fellowship, and to the breaking of bread and to prayer" (Acts 2:42). If you're going to play together, you have to have the playbook...And be on the same page...Those first century Christians accepted God's word. "When you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it, not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God that is active in you who believe" (1 Thess. 2:13). Another way of maintaining unity is by adhering to the oneness of the Spirit in peace. "Make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4:3). WE must strive for unity in a peaceful manner.

Lastly, we grow and maintain this unity by developing the "mind of Christ." When we are of this one mind we can accomplish much for the Lord. As we are in this one mind, we will treat each other in humility, with respect. It might be good for us to read Philippians 2:1-8, to get a more complete understanding of why we need to be more like Jesus. Everything that Jesus lived and died for was so that we would be one in Him..Lets make sure that we are on the same team...

Have a great day...Let your light shine for Him... Love mark Phil. 4:11
