Our Faith - A Great Catalyst

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who actively seek Him (Heb. 11:6).

There are a lot of things in life that we are sure of. The sun will rise and set each day, so we can have a faith in this. There are people around us that are good and trustworthy, so we can have a degree of faith in them. Faith is something that is believed with a strong conviction. In the world of religion, the word takes on a deeper meaning. It is; "Being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see" (Heb. 11:1). Faith is the foundation of our spirituality, upon which all else is added. It is our conviction that there is a God and that Jesus is His Son and our Savior. It is a confidence that God will make good on His promises, and the bedrock of our hope. It is something that is "worth contending for" (Jude 3).

Are you familiar with the word credulity? It is a kind of faith....A blind one... Synonyms for credulity are gullibility and naivety. It is a faith that is based on very thin evidence. Our faith in God, though hope is involved, is a powerful trust that is based upon a strong body of evidence. Our faith forms the foundation for a relationship with God. In chemistry, we often use catalysts in chemical reactions. The really unique thing about them are that they are used to speed up the reaction, but are not consumed by it. The catalyst can be recovered unchanged at the end of the reaction it was used to speed up. Our faith in God acts as a catalyst to tap into God's power. That power is available to those who believe, and the greater the faith the more power we can receive. No matter how many times we avail ourselves of His power, the catalyst is never used up. It is a power that allows us to overcome the trials and hardships of life and we must be careful to not place limitations on it.

This faith, based on strong evidences, is one that needs to trust and obey a great and magnificent Savior. A Savior who provides us with a hope beyond our wildest dreams. A hope based on those wonderful and precious promises...A hope that only grows as we learn more of His ways...

Have a great day.... Make a difference.... love mark Phil. 4;11
