Proper Perspective

"A faith that shines more bright and clear when tempests rage without;
That when in danger knows no fear, in darkness feels no doubt."

W.H. Bathurst 1831

Have you ever been called upon as an "eye witness?" More than likely not, but we've probably watched enough crime/trial movies or TV shows to have some expertise in this area. Isn't it interesting how eye witness testimony can seem to be twisted? Do you think that the circumstances under which someone witnesses something is important? If I may stretch the point a bit, this may be called perspective. In the development and gaining of perseverance, I think it important to engender the proper perspective. We may have all of the right information necessary to gain in perseverance, but lack the proper perspective. Engineers, artists and architects must see things in the right perspective to convey their ideas.

So it is with us in regard to our preseverance. In our BBC (Bible Book Club) this week at Northfield, we are studying the Minor prophets. Their example of steadfastness ought to motivate us. As we read and study about the things that they patiently endured to convey God's message to his people, (their perseverance) we can look at our own lives. Are we able to bear up under even less than trying circumstances? In the beginning of the twelfth chapter of Hebrews, our perseverance is put into perspective as we look to Jesus as our example. The race that is set before us is one of endurance.....Jesus did His part and we must do ours. In the tenth chapter we are told that perspective is gained as we look to one another. "Let us consider how to stimulate one another on toward love and good deeds....Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another" (10: 24 & 25). Encouraging and stimlating one another as we meet together can give us a better perspective.

We ought to look at life with a positive attitude. Our perseverance will become contagious as those around will see how strong that our faith is. We can comfort those in turmoil as we have persisted through it ourselves. The final though for today is this....For those who persevere, glory awaits. We are able to write our own future with the perseverance we display today....

Have a great day...What a splendid day it would be for a RAK or two... Love mark Phil. 4:11
