Father Knows Best

"Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love" (1 John 4:9).
many, many reruns) It was the story of a "typical American family" with three children. Jim Anderson, played by Robert Young, was the wise father. Whatever problem any member of the family encountered, father always seemed to really know best, and either give the right advice or make the wisest decisions. Our Father in heaven has all the right answers for us when it comes to love. In the Old Testament, God continually took His people back after they had turned from Him. His character is flawless....He is love!!!! Agape love is all about taking brotherly love to the next level. "Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another" (1 John 4:11). God loves us to the point of sending Jesus to us.

And then there is the Son! "This is how we know what love is; Jesus Christ laid down His life for us" Jesus let us know that "Love is # 1"....."Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength" (Mk. 12:30)....."Love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34)......"Walk in love, as Christ also loved us" (Eph. 5:2). I guess my title for today's devotional could be "The Father and Son Know Best."

The Holy Spirit inspired the apostle Paul to write about love many, many times. As wheat is the staple grain of our country, love is the staple spiritual virtue of the Christian life. If you have a moment or two today, read 1 Corinthians 13, just as a refresher. It just gives us the perfect perspective(s) of what love is all about. Whenever some of the lines in our lives seem to be getting blurred, these verses can quickly clear them up. Pray for one another, as Paul prayed for the churches, that our love would abound.

Have a great day....Make a difference.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
