Meditating On Jesus

"Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matt 11: 28-30).

Finding things that are excellent and praiseworthy to meditate on are not always easy. Well....Let me take that back...Meditating on Jesus is always a good thing, and He should never be far from our minds. He is most certainly excellent and praiseworthy. Jesus is all the things of Philippians 4:8 wrapped up into one complete persona. It would be wonderful for each of us to spend a bit of time each day meditating on Him.

Before scuba gear was invented, divers wore a bulky suit and were tethered to a boat as air was pumped down to them. It was a kind of "umbilical" or "vine." Jesus told us that He is the vine that connects us to what we need to bear fruit. We as the branches cannot get the spiritual nourishment we need unless we are connected to Him, the vine. (John 15: 1-5)..This would be a great thing to meditate upon...In a world that is often morally dark, Jesus says, "I am the light of the world" (John 12:8). He goes on to tell us that we no longer have to be tied to this moral darkness, but whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of live...Jesus is the light of life...What a wonderful thing this would be to meditate upon. Most of us don't really know what its like to be truly hungry on a physical level, but we all sometimes suffer from spiritual malnutrition...Jesus said, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never go thirsty" (John 6:35). Jesus, as the bread of life, gives us all we need to be spiritually fed whenever we have the need. Wouldn't this be a splendid thing to meditate on sometime during our busy day?

Lastly, Jesus told us; "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one come to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). As it is the desire of all of us to one day get to the Father, Jesus lets us know the way...the only way... Through Him. For just a few moments today, wouldn't it be really cool to meditate on Jesus being the way to our Eternal Father? I have given us all some reasons to meditate on Jesus today...It is up to us to take a little time and just do it....

Have a great beginning to your week...Let His light shine in you... Love mark Phil. 4:11
