Being High-Spirited

"Whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him would later receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified" (John 7: 38 & 39).

As we continue on about things that are worth our time in meditation, there is the Holy Spirit. We can see by today's verse that Jesus promised it to those of us who believe in Him. The apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost following Jesus resurrection, said to those who believed and were baptized; "And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (Acts 2:38). Just why is this Holy Spirit, the third person in the Godhead, worthy of our time in meditation? After all, If I am going to spend an amount of my time in meditation, I want it to be on something that is worthwhile. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WORTHWHILE!!!!

As Christians we are to "walk by the spirit," and produce it's fruit. (Gal. 5:16-23). The Holy Spirit has been given to us to lead us into the truth. I don't know about you, but to me this is worth my time in meditation. In His letter to the Romans, Paul writes; "but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.....the mind controlled by the Spirit is life" (8: 5 & 6). This verse is telling us that if we want the Spirit to control our lives that we must meditate on Him. The more that we meditate on the Spirit, the more empowered we will become. This is the power that guides us down the paths that we must travel in order to be pleasing to God.

If we are not experiencing the peace, joy and hope in our lives that we think we ought to be come these words..."May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 15: 13). Maybe one of the reasons that we just don't overflow with hope, joy and peace is that we simply don't meditate on the Holy Spirit as much as we should. As we accept Jesus totally into our lives, we become God's kids. One of the perks of being His children is the wonderful Holy Spirit that regenerates us. The Holy Spirit is well worth some of our daily time in meditation..Think about it....

Have a wonderful day...It would be a fabulous day for a RAK or two.....Love mark Phil. 4:11
