How To Grow It

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ" (Rom. 10:17).

Isn't it interesting the different ways that plants can be grown? We have all planted seeds at one time or another in our lives, but how many of us have grown a plant by using a cutting? How about using a rhizome? Have you used the eye of a potato? Today's verse says that our faith is grown through the message of Christ....The apostle John writes that Jesus did a lot of miracles that are not recorded...."But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Son of God" (20:30). I believe that a large reason the Word is recorded for us, is that it's evidences will grow a stronger faith in us.

Jane and I have a small "fire pit" out in the back yard. Every once in a while on a cold night we will build a fire in it and sit near it as it gives off it's heat. Our faith is also grown by the warmth of Christian fellowship. "But encourage one another daily as it is called Today, so that none of you will be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end the confidence we had at first" (Heb. 3:13 & 14). Later on in the Book of Hebrews, the writer encourages us to "stimulate each other in love and good deeds as we assemble together' (10: 24 & 25). Just as we are warmed by being close to a fire, so to is our faith grown by our proximity to others of like faith. Finally, our faith is grown by our obedience to Jesus' will. He said; "If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own" (John 7:17). Our faith and trust is also grown as we obey the will of God and His Son...Whether by seed, cutting or rhizome, our faith can produce the fruit that our God desires it to. We become people of a more powerful faith only through Him...

Have a great day...I look forward to writing to you again on Tuesday... Go about doing good....Love mark Phil. 4:11
