Keeping It Alive

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6).

Jane and I got back in the wee hours of this morning. We just couldn't get on the same page as Air-Tran. When I went out for my newspaper this morning I noticed that in the four days that we were gone that it had not rained. My lawn is in "semi-distress." It is difficult enough to grow grass, (for me that is) keeping it growing is another thing. When God does not send down His water, we need make up for it. Preacher's love today's verse and I've heard it applied to all kinds of life issues. It is important for us as Christians to grow in our faith and I am afraid that when we stop growing in His Word, that our faith suffers. "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night" (Psa. 1:2). Meditating on God's Word helps us to keep our faith alive and vibrant.

"In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead. But someone will say, 'You have faith; I have deeds.' Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do" (James 2:17 & 18). Our faith is only as strong as how it is demonstrated in our actions. A powerful faith wants to display itself in service to others. It is surely a two-way street. When our life of service wanes, so does our faith. A strong faith just can't get enough of wanting to do the Lord's work.

"See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God, but encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first" (Heb. 3:12-14). As we fellowship with each other, our faith will surely grow. In our fellowship, as we seek to edify each other, our bond of faith grows both in each other and in the Lord who makes us one. When we stop assembling together we run the risk of being like a glowing ember that has been removed from the fire. Our continued fellowship keeps all the coals hot for the Lord. We must keep our faith alive...

Have a great day...A RAK would be in order.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
