A Hope That Shows

"For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently" (Rom. 8: 24 & 25).

We have all hoped for things...Remembering back to our childhoods, the hope for certain things around our birthdays or Christmas was a joyful time...Today's verse really puts hope into perspective, doesn't it. True and real hope is about things that we either have not seen or do not have. "Who hopes for what he already has?" In the very important spiritual realm, hope is an important part of our lives. It is kind of like the carrot dangled in front of the horse to keep him plowing. Our spiritual hopes are of that which are beyond this life. With this in mind, it is of the utmost importance that our lives are reflections of that glorious hope...Real hope needs to be demonstrated in our daily walk!!! The apostle Peter even goes as far as saying to us that we should "always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15). What that tells me is that our hope ought to showing in our lives so that others can see it and want it!!

Our hope should be so powerful that we will be growing constantly in holiness. It will be shown in the patience and perseverance that we exercise in all aspects of our lives. People will see this in us and be looking for those same attributes. The apostle Paul in the book of Romans said, "We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God" (5:2). He realized, and taught us that our true "citizenship is in heaven and we eagerly await a Savior from there" ( Phil. 3:20). Our hope should bring us a life of joy, even when things are not going exactly the way we might want them to. Both Peter and Paul said that we can even find joy in hardship and affliction when our hope is strong enough and vibrant enough.

Waiting, working and rejoicing are all marks of one who has the true hope of the Lord in them. Patiently and eagerly waiting for the returning Savior. Being of service with perseverance in His kingdom....And lastly, being able to rejoice in the great hope that lies ahead....THE JOY OF HOPE.....Time spent in meditation of the hope that lies within us, is time well spent...

Have a great day... Let your light shine for Him... Love mark Phil. 4:11
