More About Humble

"Let this mind be in you which is also in Christ" (Phil. 2:5).

One of my favorite scenes in the movie Back To The Future, is when Doc Brown comes to the door with a strange looking contraption on his head. He thinks that with it he can read a person's mind. (it didn't work)..We have always been intrigued with the concept of reading someone else's thoughts. Today's verse says that we are to read Jesus' mind. Strangely enough..... we can. His thoughts have been shared with us to the extent that the apostle Paul says that the mind that should be in our's is Christ's. It was Paul's plea to us that we abandon conceit and live a life of humility. As a reinforcement, he offered us the example of Jesus as a pattern for Christian behavior. If our Lord took the form of a human and humbled Himself to the extent of becoming a servant, should we not have His mind? As Paul encourages us to take the mind of Christ, he unravels a mystery. This section of Philippians opens up the wonder of Jesus, the Son of God, taking on a human form. It does it with grace and power. It agrees with John's account that "the word became flesh" (1:1). It also dovetails well with Matthew writing; "and they will call Him Immanuel-----which means, God with us" (1:23).

What Christians believe about Jesus really matters! The God that took the form of a man and died on the cross is not some lower tier deity. It is with difficulty that we comprehend Jesus as God in the flesh and at the same time fully God. It is only when we understand the oneness of the Father and Son that we are able to consider what it really meant for Him to humble Himself! If Christ humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, how much more ought we to humble ourselves in service to one another... We read that after Jesus humbled Himself, that God exalted Him! "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow.....and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Vs 10 & 11). As God exalted Jesus after He humbled Himself, so will he exalt His people when they humble themselves. "Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up in due time" (1 Peter 5:6)

Have a great beginning to your week...Start it with a RAK..... Love mark Phil. 4:11
