On Keeping the Saved, Saved

"My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth, and someone should bring him back, remember this; Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover a multitude of sins" (James 5: 19 & 20).

My little handheld GPS helped me out again. It was extremely foggy yesterday morning with visibility on the bay at about 100 or so feet. I had a long way to navigate to get to my clamming area, and I would have surely gotten lost if it weren't for my trusty device in hand. Sometimes in life, people lose their way...It looks like James concludes his book here with attempting to keep the saved, among the saved. Somehow or another, with sin being the culprit, many get lost in the fogs of life. If all those who have been saved stayed true to their first love, the church buildings around the world would be as filled as the fishing nets that Jesus had his disciples put in the water in Luke 5: 4-7). All through the New Testament there are warnings about being lured back into the fog... For this very reason, Peter wrote; "Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour: (1 Pet. 5:8).

Paul wrote to the Galatians that it was up to them to bring back those who had lost their way. "Brothers, if someone is caught in sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently....But watch yourself, or you may be tempted" (6:1). Many years ago I was out in the bay fishing with my dad. A fog rolled in quickly and I was hopelessly lost. I was wandering about blindly, when soon another boat started following me! Before long there were several boats in a classic scenario of the blind leading the blind! Fortunately I wandered upon a large boat with navigation equipment, and my little ragtag group made it safely in. According to Paul, it is up to the spiritual one to get another out of the fog of sin. We can be those spiritual ones if we use the GPS of God's Word to keep us on the right path. Using it's track lines, we can always find our way, and help others to find theirs. James wanted his readers to turn those who had strayed from the truth back to God. To save a lost soul is a wonderful thing to do in the sight of our Lord...It is great to know that when the fog lifts that you are exactly where you planned on being...

Have a great day...A RAK is a wonderful way to show who guides you.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
