Gladly Take The Gift

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows" (James 1:17).

While visiting in the hospital yesterday, I had an interesting conversation with a fellow visitee. There were a lot of hospital personnel coming in and out of the room, so we actually wound up kind of visiting with one another. As we chatted, we came to a conclusion about ourselves. We are both bad takers. By this we meant that we did not mind helping others either with time our resources, but neither of us like to be on the receiving end. (I don't mean to come off as arrogant about the giving part) We decided that it was a flaw that needed to be worked on, because in doing this we can rob someone out of an opportunity to serve us. Everyone needs the satisfaction that comes from giving, and the trait of not wanting to take from time to time can show a lack of humility. I hope this makes as much sense to you as it made to us. God, according to today's verse, is the giver of every good and perfect gift. We must be willing to accept the gifts that He has to offer us.

One of those gifts is grace. In yesterday's verses from Titus, (2: 11-12) we found that grace offers us salvation and that it teaches us. It teaches us to live upright and godly lives in this present age. Even though the verse ends, the sentence thought does not. Lets finish it..."to live upright and godly lives while we wait for the blessed hope---the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his own, eager to do what is good" WOW! God's grace allows us to look to the future and know that we have been redeemed by Jesus' sacrifice. Through his grace he has purified us to be his people. But this we must understand! "For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith----and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God" (Eph 2:8). It is one of those good and perfect gifts from above and we must be willing to take it. Even though it requires humbling ourselves, we need to be the taker....Gladly take the gift....

Have a great day...Go about doing good, and don't mind it if someone wants to do good for you....Love mark Phil. 4:11
