What's Better?

"In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things" (Heb. 1:1-2).

I remember back in college that several of my friends always used to argue over which car maker produced the better car, Chrysler or GM. (Ford never entered this discussion) We would extol the virtues of our favorite, trying to explain why it was better. Political candidates try to convince us that they are the better person for the job, and companies spend millions in advertising, attempting to sway us to their product. To me, this is the message of the book of Hebrews...JESUS IS BETTER! The writer is bent on convincing his audience that Jesus is simply superior in all ways. Today's verse tells of the better message. He tells us that in the past that God spoke to the people through prophets, and much of this communication is part of our Old Testament. But in the last days....The days we are in now, the message is much better because it is from His Son. When the apostle John introduces Jesus to us, he does it this way; "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen the glory of the One and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14).

God chose His Son to communicate His message to us in these last days. When on trial, Jesus said, "But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the Mighty God" (Luke 22:69). When the Hebrew writer tells us to fix our eyes on Jesus, he says that "he sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" (12:2). We are so blessed to have His words to instruct us. As we are involved in the great race that has been set before us, and are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses to help us along the way, His words will help us to run faster. They will help us to win the prize. God provides us with the better way through Jesus, "the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning it's shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" It's settled....JESUS IS BETTER! More tomorrow....

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
