Reading The Blueprint

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

For those who know me very well, building things from a plan or blueprint would not be my strong suit. But the blueprint that Jesus laid our for His apostles just before He ascended into heaven is one that all of us can understand....Even me! It all started with the apostles and quickly fanned out as many were converted. The apostles were able to lay their hands on people and endue them with special powers by the gift of the Holy Spirit. One of these evangelists, Philip, was one of the seven hand-picked by the apostles along with Stephen for special duty. After Stephen was stoned, a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem and it was scattered. "Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the gospel of Christ there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous deeds he did, they all paid close attention to what he said" (Acts 8: 5-6).

God often overrides the intent of those who do evil in order to bring about good, and is even willing to use less than savory characters to bring about His plans. Persecution can be to our faith what a bit of moving air is to a fire. It will fan it into a greater fire with more intense heat. Samaria was not the most friendly place for the gospel to be preached, but the persecution fanned the flame and spread the fire. The scripture I quoted from Acts 8 above explains that there are two reasons the people of Samaria responded to Philip's message. It was what he said and what he did! And now the Lord's blueprint is crystal clear and easily understood. The spreading of the Lord's Good News has been put into our hands. The only difference is that there is no imminent persecution. People respond when they are able to see God's Word put into action through our lives. Our Christian walk must be commensurate with the truth that we believe. I am so impressed with myself that I can actually read a blueprint...

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4:11
