Doxology 2

"For from Him and through Him and to Him be the glory forever! Amen" (Rom. 11:36).

Because of the computer age, formal letter writing is almost just a memory. Do you remember sending a letter to someone and trying to finish with a flourish. Since the end of the letter would be the last thing read, you wanted to put something special, poignant or clever there. I don't know....Maybe we do it with emails too, but I remember reading over the letter before I sealed it to make sure it was what I wanted to say, and that I finished it well. The book of Romans (a letter to the church at Rome) is made up of sixteen chapters. Here at the end of the eleventh is a doxology. If you remember from yesterday, a doxology is a short burst or hymn of praise to the Lord. Though there are five more chapters in the letter, the apostle Paul chose to end this a section with this lovely doxology. Lets see what it is about.

Though God picked the Jews as His chosen people, it was His plan all along for all people of the earth to come to know and love Him. This was to be manifested through Jesus. With His last words on earth Jesus said; "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations" (Matt. 28:19). Paul was chosen as the main apostle to bring this to fruition. This doxology reflects that both Jews and Gentiles were to have the opportunity to be saved through God's mercy. "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" It is good for us from time to time to just stop and meditate about the awesome greatness of God. To just reflect and contemplate His love and mercy for us. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8). Each time that we pray, a doxology ought to be included. Just look at today's verse. Our wonderful God deserves the praise...

Have a great day... Let your light shine for Him... Love mark Phil. 4:11
