One Last Doxology

"Now to Him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey Him---to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen" (Rom. 16: 25-27).

I have observed my family in KS watch their college team play basketball on TV. Directions are given to players called by their first names as if they were with us here in the room and we knew them personally. I often do the same thing with my favorite team. Why? I believe that when we feel strongly about something that we in a sense, take personal ownership. That's "my" team.Just as we call the United States of America "my" country and the church that we attend "my" church. It is a good thing because it means that we feel involved and engaged. In this last of my doxology series, the apostle Paul calls the gospel his...."Now to Him who is able to establish you by my gospel". Paul takes personal ownership for the gospel that he is referring to. He does this because he received it from God by revelation. "I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ" (Gal. 1:12). Paul received this gospel and passed it on, intact, to the Roman church and to us. For this reason, just as I might have my team, country and church, the gospel is mine also. I can say this because I want to take a personal ownership in it...I want to be involved and engaged in it and share how I feel about it with others.

Paul explains this gospel as something that was hidden in the past ages, but alluded to by the prophets of old. Finally in His great and magnificent wisdom, God had it revealed to us through His Son. The reason for this revelation is so that all nations might believe and obey Him. This gospel ought to be firmly etched into us that we, as Paul, will take a personal ownership in it...An involvement and engagement to the extent that we will call it, my gospel. Finally we come to our last doxology....The ultimate purpose of all things...."to the only wise God be glory forever through Christ Jesus." If we remember what a doxology is, all praise should be given to our God for revealing the gospel, the good news, to us. That we will take it personally and live it. AMEN.

Have a great day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4:11
