Making The Commitment

"Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun" (Psa. 37:5-6).

The Christmas season is right around the corner and we will soon hear the plethora of songs, both secular and religious. One of my favorites among the former is "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." One line that particularly strikes me as worthwhile is; "Be good for goodness sake." Now that's a good credo that I would like to add on to....Today's verse may give you a hint. Whatever you do, do it for the Lord's sake! When we make plans, do we subject them to God's will? Do we give God the chance to close the door on a choice that we might make if it is his will? Now as Christians, some of our plans are clear cut. There is a "not to do" list that we must always consider as the proclaimed will of God. God gave the children of Israel the Ten Commandments so that they would know some of that proclaimed will. In other choices outside of this realm, it is important to consult God. Jesus gave us this very important example in the Garden when the prayed to his Father. "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will" (Matt. 26:39).

Our life is like a parade. When we view a parade, usually from the sidewalk, we only get to see one small part at a time. From heaven, God views it as from a very tall building, seeing our entire lives. He can help us with our choices and it is obvious why...Here's another thing to consider. Choices are not always between good and bad. Sometimes they are between good and better. Wouldn't it be a stellar idea in these cases to bring in the expert? God can use us in so many ways if just allow him to do so. Finally, when the choice is made and we know that we have done the right thing, we need to do it with all our might. It should be a goal of ours to stand perfect and complete in God's will....When we plan, why not use the Master Planner...

Have a wonderful day...Let His light shine in you... Love mark Phil. 4:11
