Seeking Sanctification

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?" (1 Cor. 6:19)

What kind of stuff would one find in a temple? Immoral things? Filthy things? Of course not! Today's verse is a frank reminder to all of us about our bodies. The previous verse says to "flee from sexual immorality.....he who sins sexually, sins against his own body." We then get a clue in the next verse about why we ought to take this sanctification thing seriously. "You were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." When we decide to follow Jesus, many wonderful things happen. The first is that we receive the Holy Spirit. Our bodies become the "temples of the Holy Spirit." When we allow this Holy Spirit to guide our paths, it is then that we become temples...It is then that through the grace of God that sanctification becomes possible. We need to allow the Holy Spirit to move us along the right road. We must permit the Holy Spirit to empower us in the struggle against the bonds of sin.

It is not possible to stay out of the world, but with help, we can keep the world from becoming a part of us. "Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourself with the same attitude, for he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God" (1 Pet. 4: 1-2). In the first century, it was commonplace for Christians to be called saints. (Rom. 8:27, Eph. 1: 15, 18, Phm.7) Christians are still saints today. We are sanctified today just as Christians were back then. The Holy Spirit, through the grace of God accomplishes this today. We are to embrace this sanctification and be proud of our calling. We should be proud that God calls our bodies his temple and act accordingly...

Have a great week..Starting it with RAK would be good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
