What's The Spark?

"For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but the will of him who sent me" (John 6:38).

Motivation: Act or process of furnishing with an incentive or inducement to action...That sounds like a good definition for the word motivation, doesn't it. In today's verse, Jesus explains everything we need to know about what motivated him. It was all about doing the will of the Father. I could say that this ought to be our motivation too and end today's devotional right here. Since I have more to say, I won't do that. OK...If Jesus' motives or incentives were what they were and ours are the same, what more is there? Lets look at the last part of the definition...."to action." Just what are we to be motivated to do? "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came from God" (John 8:42). The first thing that we should be motivated to do is become a part of God's family, with God as our Father and Jesus as our brother. We can then truly pray to our Father in heaven.

We next want to gain assurance. Jesus said; "If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own" (John 7:17). We gain assurance as we keep his commandments, especially in loving one another. When we think about our hope, it is always tied to assurance, for hope means desire plus expectation. Lastly, there is that promise! "You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised" (Heb. 10:36). The promise is that we will one day abide forever with Him. Jesus told us that those who believe in Him will live forever. This is the will of God in Christ Jesus for all of us..Lets stay motivated....

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
