Accessorizing

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace" (Eph. 3: 15).

An elegant touch that a man might add when dressing formally is a boutonniere, and a woman might wear or carry a corsage. Accessorizing is not only for formal occasions. We might wear some kind of jewelry with our regular clothing, or even a hat. When we clothe ourselves with Christ's apparel of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forbearance, forgiveness and love, Paul also tells that there are accessories. Verses 15 to 17 shows them to us. We are to allow the peace of God rule in our hearts. "For He Himself is our peace" (Eph. 2: 14). We should each be thankful because in Jesus we find peace. "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual song with gratitude in your hearts to God" (V 17). A wonderful accessory is the word of God which we ought to let dwell within us richly. The wonderful bonus of worship is lifting one another up. I might not have the greatest voice in the world, but I love to raise it up in praise to my Lord. I also love to hear others raising their voices in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. What fantastic accessories!

Finally, there is the ultimate authority by which we are able to be adorned so richly. "And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, doing it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (V 17). Whatever we say or do, it is to be in His name. Whenever we pray to God, it is through Jesus our Savior and mediator that we express our gratitude. As Christians we are to dress spiritually in Christ's apparel. These accessories will set off that spiritual apparel perfectly...

Have a great day...Meditate on Jesus today... Love mark Phil. 4:11
