Dealing With The Real World

"So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful creator and continue to do good" (1 pet. 4:19).

With the old Arab proverb, "all sunshine makes the desert" in mind, I come to the second reason for "why church?" There are a lot of things about life that are not easy. It takes much heat to refine gold. The death of a loved one, being rejected, poor health, aging and the inevitability of dying are among the problems that we will face in life. All of these things can be terrible or sometimes devastating, especially if we have to face them alone. In a world that is ever more materialistic in nature, people don't want to deal with these problems. As a result, people often find themselves totally alone when trouble comes. The Christian is not shielded from the hardships of life, but it is the church that prevents them from being alone. The church is our family. "For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name" (Eph. 3:15). The church provides a real support group that prevents one from being alone despite hardships. The church is referred to many times in the Bible as the family of God. A family that provides for each other's needs, whether physical, emotional or spiritual. The apostle Paul writes; "Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn (weep) with those who mourn...Live in harmony with one another" (Rom. 12:15-16). Throughout the Book of Acts we find members of the church supported by their brethren.

An important facet of the service each of us does as a Christian is to be there when someone faces tragedy, disappointment or a defeat in life. Despite the hardships of life, we should find it difficult to be down for very long. I know that as a Christian that what I am enduring now is the absolute worst I will ever have to endure...I can pray to God, my Father through Jesus, my brother with the rest of my family on the ready to support me. Each act of worship that I do is designed to encourage me, lift me up and make things better. It is the very essence of the church...More tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
