Spiritual Worship....The Right Location

"This day is sacred to the Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Neh. 8:10).

Those of you that know me well, know that I can be a bit emotional at times. I get teary at the end of some movies. Things that are said at weddings and funerals also tend to get to me. I can honestly say that in the last 20 or so years that I have shed tears at every baptism that I have witnessed or performed. There is a place to allow that emotional side of us to be evident. Tears may be the by-product of a worship service, but should not be the goal. Obviously there are other emotions beside tears that can be wrongly channeled. An action done within worship done for the purpose of stimulating another's emotions as the primary goal is not what God wants. Our worship ought to be devoted to the honor and glory of God. We worship with the right emotions (love, sincerity, thanksgiving, reverence, humility and joy) because we love God and are thankful for all of His spiritual blessings in Christ. Joy should certainly be evident in worship, as people are glad to be there. In this atmosphere, hearts will be touched in the right way. Worship can surely be meaningful in its very mood and still be conducted in the spirit that God is seeking.

"God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). As Jesus had this wonderful and memorable teaching moment with the Samaritan woman at the well, we must absorb the lesson. Location, location, location may be a good mantra for businesses, but not with our worship. Jesus taught the woman that it is not the location of worship that is paramount, but the location of the heart! When our heart is in the right place, the right emotions will follow...

Have a great start to your week... A RAK or two would be a good beginning... Love mark Phil. 4:11
