Relationships 2

"Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water" (Heb. 10:22).

When we invite people into our homes, we often do a little extra cleaning and preparation. Maybe its a little about pride, but hopefully the motive is that we want to present something good to our guests. We know that they know that our houses don't look this good 24 hours of the day, but we do it for them. In order to have Godly relationships with people, we must set our own houses in order first. Today's verse from the Book of Hebrews talks about cleaning our own houses through our relationship with God. Real Christian friendships are one's in which we act from pure hearts. For our relationships with others to work here, they must work there first. The writer of Hebrews goes on..."Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess" (V 23). Its not a one time cleansing that we are talking about here but an interwoven part of our very fabric. Our relationships will succeed when we stay on course. When all of this is in order, we are ready to do what we were designed to do.."And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" (V 24). In good relationships we are always trying to spur one another on.. We are always trying to bring out the best in others because we have set our own houses in order first.

Finally; "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another" (V 25). How can we possibly have the kind of relationships that we desire to have if we are not meeting together? I look at this as a rhetorical question. Our relationships will surely ripen and bear fruit as we are together. As we encourage one another, our relationships will thrive. On the practical side, take the time to listen, write, email or call. These are ways we can touch others and let them know that we care for all the right reasons...

Have a great day...RAKs all around! Love mark Phil. 4:11
