Connecting To God

"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pleasure, the flock under His care" (Ps. 95: 6-7).

Connections are very important. We glue, staple, tie and bind things together in all sorts of ways. Look at all the things that are connected to one another in a car to make it function correctly...Worship, real worship, is one of the most important ways that we connect with God. Michael R. Weed wrote an article in Christian Studies entitled, "Amusing the Saints; Edification Without Transcendence." In it he wrote; "Worship points us beyond the realities of this world to the transcendent reality of that one who is totally Other. In doing so, worship puts all of the other realities of the world into their proper place....Ultimately worship frees us from the chief idol, the self----the bloated ego which transforms and distorts all that it surveys before the awesome reality of God----His majesty and mystery---one is released from self-absorption" Psalm 95 (especially verses 1-7) from which I got today's verses is mostly about worship and would make a great reading for meditation. My theme for the next few days will focus on worship and how it connects us to God. True worship connects us to God as it impacts our hearts in a powerful way. In worship, we are able to become preoccupied with God instead of ourselves. We can come to him with a broken spirit with expectations of finding wholeness. Jesus said to the Samaritan woman; "God is spirit, and His worshippers must worship Him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). That means that we are to worship Him with both our hearts and minds...True worship connects us to God as it makes a powerful impact on our hearts...More tomorrow...

Have a great day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4:11
