Focusing In

"If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so that I might know you and continue to gain favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people." The Lord replied, 'My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest' " (Ex. 33: 13-14).

In continuing my thoughts on connecting with God, we find Moses conversing with Him in today's verses. It is an intimate encounter with Moses desiring to know God's ways so that he can find favor with Him. To seal the moment, God assures him of this...."My presence will go with you and you will find rest." Our God is the real deal, and each time that we come into His presence ought to be a special one. "For the Lord is the great God, the great king above all Gods" (Ps. 95:3). Now to the people then that probably meant the multiple Gods worshipped by the people of that day. To us today, it may pertain to anything that would draw us away from Him...If we are not careful, money, power and success might overshadow God and become our objects of worship. "You shall fear only the Lord your God; and you shall worship Him" (Deut. 6:13). The word fear does not connote the emotion that we feel about the boogie man but rather an awe. God wants us to be awed by Him and be delighted in Him. We truly connect with God when we do things that please Him. The things that we see and hear are dependent upon how we have prioritized our lives. "But seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you" (Matt. 6:33). When we look into a microscope or telescope, what we are looking for will never be seen clearly if we don't know how to focus in the images. True and real worship always focuses on God's presence....More tomorrow....

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
