Powerful People...Powerful Prayer

"The effective (fervent in KJV) prayer of a righteous man is power is powerful" (James 5:16).

The human race has accomplished so much in the past century. From land travel to flight, land phones to cells...It is no wonder that so many people feel self-sufficient. So self-sufficient that God is often left out of their life equation. Sometimes it takes a dilemma in life to make that 180 to God. Why in the world is it such a struggle for some cry out for help? Is it the "tough guy" mentality? Is it more spiritual to have that over-worked and under-appreciated, mad at a lot of people, the world is getting me down feeling? When I look at today's verse I come away with this thought...When good people pray, great things happen! Letting the world get the best of us is not a spiritual process, prayer is. It has some requirements though. It takes discipline, strength and perhaps some agonizing thought. It can help us to overcome any problem. It can turn defeat into victory, problems into solutions and hurdles into ladders. Prayer will bring us to a point where we will be able to accept what God wants for us in our lives. Just like anything in life that we want to be good at, prayer demands practice, it just doesn't happen. "Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced crops" (James 5:17). I will write more about prayer next week..This may be over-simplifying it, but God answers prayers in three ways...Yes...No...Wait....

Have a wonderful day...1 Thess. 5:17..... Love mark Phil. 4:11
