With A Little Help From My Friends

"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity" Pr. 17:17).

For those of us who remember the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Days, (1967) my title should strike a responsive chord. It is one of the songs on that famous album. There have been countless songs, poems and stories written about friendship, and you will find many references to it in the Bible. Why? I think that God sees friendship as a critical aspect of life. Husband and wife ought to be great friends. Maybe the neighbor that Jesus talks of in the second greatest command (Lk. 10:27) is supposed to become our friend. From the many friend type relationships spoken of in our Bibles, it is clear that the Lord does not want us to be alone in this world. I think that He wants someone in our lives who will help us to feel accepted, trusted and approved. The Lord wants us to heal broken relationships. He wants us to have someone to disclose things to without hypocrisy or fear of reprisal. He wants us to pull each other up because it is the right thing to do, not because we expect something in return. Good and true friends can help us in several ways. They can and will forgive us. They can and will build us up even to the extent that they will play down their own lives. Good friends will give with no strings attached...Over the next day or two, I would like to use some famous and infamous examples in our Bibles to see why we can accomplish much, With A Little Help From My Friends...

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
