A Never Ending Blendship

"It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgot,
Ours will still be hot
."

Cole Porter 1939

In the Old Testament book of Daniel, we find a great friendship. It is between the prophet Daniel and the three young men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. The friendship was so strong, that when Daniel was placed in a high position by King Nebuchadnezzar, his three friends were honored also. "Moreover, at Daniel's request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court" (Dan. 2:49). With nothing to gain, friends do good things for their friends, just because they are friends. Jesus had friends too..."As Jesus and His disciples were on there way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what He said" (Luke 10: 38-39). Lazarus was their brother, and we all know that Jesus wept at the news of his death. Jesus bought joy into the life of His friends by raising Lazarus from the dead (Luke 16). Friends weep with their friends at times of sadness and rejoice with them in times of gladness. The apostle Paul had friends also. "Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus. They risked their lives for me" (Rom. 16: 3-4). We can see from this verse how strong the friendship between Paul, Priscilla and Aquila was. God wants us to have friends like these so that our lives can be enriched."The more we love, the better we are; and the greater our friendships are, the dearer we are to God" (Jeremy Taylor). More tomorrow...

"It's friendship, friendship, just a perfect blendship.
When other friendships have been forgate
Ours will still be great."
