Creating A No-Lie Zone

"Careless! Careless! Careless with the truth.
She's not exactly lyin' but she's careless with the truth."

Paul Francis Webster from the musical Calamity Jane

The above lines are the chorus of the second song sung from the musical Calamity Jane. She is trying to impress someone with her exploits, and rattles off a list of "fantastic" things that she has done. Impossible things...What is telling the truth all about? The question sounds very simple doesn't it..The very integrity of a person rests on his or her ability to tell the truth at all times. Now we have all heard about those "little white lies" haven't we. Is there any such thing? "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor" (Ex. 20:16). "A false witness will not go unpunished, he who pours out lies will not go free" (Prov. 19:5). Telling the truth at all times is synonymous with truth, honor and integrity. For us as Christians, they should all spring from the nature of God. As we strive to be more Christ-like in our lives, we are to take on as many of His traits as possible. The apostle Paul in talking about the great promise of God wrote this to Titus: "a faith and knowledge resting on the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time" (1:2). The truthfulness and integrity of a Christian marks his commitment to Christ. We simply cannot deal in lies, half-truths and character -assassinations and still be considered a child of God. Lying breaches our relationship with God. It is one of those seven deadly things that God hates in Proverbs 6. Wouldn't the world be a greater to live in if all people were people of truth? As we base our lives on the LORD OF TRUTH, the world can become a better place, starting with us...

Have a great day....Make a difference for the good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
