The "H's" Of Getting The Wall Built

"So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half it's height, for the people worked with all their heart" (Neh. 4:6).

Our lives ought to be a constant growth process. We just can't stop for a significant amount of time and rest on our laurels, lest we fall behind. The Book of Nehemiah is a great study for those of us who want to continue in our growth. As the children of Israel were about to come back to their land from captivity, Nehemiah the prophet was put in charge of rebuilding the wall. He was also in charge of rebuilding the spirit of the people and get them back on track. The wall-building was first, and against much opposition, today's verse says that he was successful. The wall was not all that had to be revived however. Here's where the"H's" come in. In order for the building to be successful, the people had to Hunger for the nourishment of God's word for the process to continue. They had to keep on Honoring God with a passionate worship. They needed to Humble themselves in the confession of their sins and allow God to come into their lives. They couldn't stop there, but rather they had to Heighten their efforts through the covenant of love in agreeing that they would continue to move forward. Finally, when the wall was finished, they Heralded God in their dedication. They celebrated with "thanksgiving and with music of cymbals, harps and lyres" There was great joy in knowing that they had succeeded, and that God was there for every step. If we are to have true revival in our lives....If we are to get our walls built....It would be good for us to remember the "H's." Hungering....Honoring....Humbling....Heightening...Heralding....They are great tools in building and reviving the walls of our lives....

Have a great day.... Go about doing good...
