Restoring Praise

"Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs" (Ps. 100:1-2).

From the beginning, the Lord has always expected the best from His people. In Old Testament days, when sacrifices were made, only the best and unblemished animals were to be brought before the Lord. In I Kings 10:16-17, King Solomon made 200 large shields of pure gold and they are hung in the house of the Lord. Because the people sinned by building idols in their jealously, the Egyptians attacked and carried off many treasures from the temple, including the gold shields. The shields were replaced, but this time they were no match for the originals, for they were made of bronze. I think that sometimes we make some poor substitutions when it comes to praising the Lord. Our substitutions may be made of bronze rather than gold. We may substitute the bronze of being a spectator rather than a participant in worship. Perhaps we choose the bronze of works over the gold of faith and grace. We might opt for the bronze of the head, over the gold of the heart, as we have elevated our minds but forgotten that the heart is the source of our commitment. Maybe we choose the bronze of a distant God over the gold of a close and concerned God. Our special relationship with the Lord ought to be reflected in today's verse. We ought to shout for joy to the Lord! We should worship the Lord with gladness! It is so great when we come before Him with grateful songs! The Psalmist gives an explanation through the remainder of the Psalm. It would make an excellent source of meditation for the day..."Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture" (V 3). In the Olympics, the Gold medal is only for the first place finisher, whereas the bronze is for third. Lets all strive to be first in the eyes of God...A few tips on restoring praise tomorrow...

Have an excellent beginning to your week....Start it with a RAK or two....Love mark Phil. 4:11
